We use a Structured Literacy/Orton-Gillingham curriculum that aligns with the best practices of reading intervention. Specialization in Speech-Language Pathology allows us to assess all aspects of written and verbal language and customize the intervention to meet your child’s specific needs. In the initial sessions we will take a look at foundational skills (phonological awareness, such as rhyming, sound identification and blending/segmenting), sound-symbol knowledge, phonics, vocabulary, reading fluency, reading comprehension, spelling and writing skills. Then you will receive a personalized intervention plan listing your child’s current skill levels and goal areas.
Children with reading and writing difficulties usually need intervention services at least twice a week. However, once a week can be arranged if necessary, especially for children already receiving other reading intervention services at school. Schedule a free consultation now to discuss scheduling options for your child.
